Let me tell you a story...

A case study writer is a skilled storyteller who is able to spin your customer's yarn to help you land more customers.

Why does a case study writer need to be able to spin a good yarn? Humans are hard-wired to respond to storytelling; ever since the cavemen sat around their first fires telling tall tales about that day's hunt, we've been conveying ideas and information to each other in story form.

There's a long scientific explanation for this (which Lifehacker breaks down into a nice, easy-to-understand format), but I won't get into that here (you're welcome). Suffice it to say that we're far more likely to accept and retain information if it's presented in story form.

Ready to tell your happy customer's story?

Case Study = Customer Success Story

Why should that matter to you? Well, because a case study is essentially a story, with your happy customer as the protagonist. And if crafted well, that story can give your prospects the experience of using your product before they've ever laid a hand on it. Getting your prospects to imagine themselves using your product is half the battle.

In order to do that, of course, you have to be able to tell your customer's story in a compelling way. "Nancy used Widget X and lived happily ever after" might technically qualify as a story, but it's going to read more like an advertisement to your prospects. You have to ask the right questions so you can tell Nancy's whole story -- the struggles she faced, the search for a solution, and what her life looks like now that she's using Widget X.

That's why you need the right case study writer. Someone who can ask the right questions. Someone who can distill the answers into a great story. Someone who loves learning about people...and who's just a little geeky about this whole case study business.

That's where I come in. Let me tell your customer's story while you focus on what you're good at: Creating more "happily ever afters" for your customers.
